The Storey Gardens are an oasis of calm just a short walk from Lancaster train station and the one-way system. The Storey is a fantastic community space housing local businesses and hosting events from exhibitions to weddings. Limited, paid parking available at this location. Please arrive on foot/bicycle or by public transport.

Fairfield Nature Reserve is owned and maintained by the Fairfield Association. It has a very dedicated volunteer group who work tirelessly to manage and protect this biologically diverse area for future generations.

Cemeteries can be wonderful habitats for wildlife, and Lancaster Cemetery is no exception. Managed by volunteers, taking part in one of the events there during the festival will be a great opportunity to find out more about this local space.

Saved from developers, Freeman’s Wood, an important local habitat is now held in trust for the local people and has been designated as a Town Green. The Friends group have already improved access with fully wheelchair accessible paths and are working to improve biodiversity.
Accessible path from New Quay. Limited parking at both locations so please come on foot/bicycle or public transport* if possible. *Number 11 bus to Willow Lane (Denmark Street bus stop). Please visit Stagecoach for number 11 timetable information.

Claver Hill Community Project and composting demonstration site, this is also managed for wildlife and to help reduce the risks of flooding. The newly installed paths make the site fully accessible as well.

*Number 10 bus runs hourly to Ridge Estate Shops. The first bus arrives at 10.40am on Sundays and it is about a 10 minute walk from there. Please visit Stagecoach for number 7 timetable information.
